On the 70th anniversary of Israel’s independence, Mingei International Museum—a folk art, craft, and design museum that focuses on objects of use from around the world— has aptly hosted the exhibition “Israel—70 Years of Craft and Design.” The occasion provided a unique opportunity to tell the story of the modern state of Israel through tangible, three-dimensional objects that not only combine aesthetics and functionality but also serve as repositories of values and meaning.

The exhibition and its accompanying publication provide a glimpse into the cultural codes

that shape vibrant creativity through tactile conversations, juxtaposing Yemenite jewelry with three-dimensional printing, Palestinian textiles with Bauhaus aesthetics, innovative ceramics with sustainable and cutting-edge industrial design, furniture, and lighting.
